In the coffee world, November and December are busy months for us. With everyone running around starting their holiday shopping, and malls and stores extending their hours – holiday shoppers will be looking for some java to keep them going.

Canterbury’s team of experts have crafted three unique holiday recipes for you to share with your customers this season. A Taste of Christmas pays homage to traditional salted caramel flavours, paired with natural brown sugar for a touch of sweetness.

Our irresistible Holiday Cold Brew recipe is easy to prep and can be simply made by combining frozen cold brew concentrate with eggnog (an undeniable staple at Christmas). Be creative and try using a fancy holiday ice cube tray like this one.

1.  A TASTE OF CHRISTMAS

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• 2 oz shot of espresso
• ½ cup steamed milk
• 1 tsp natural brown sugar
• 2 pumps of Torani Salted Caramel Syrup
• 1/8 tbs Kosher Salt

TOPPINGS:

• Whipped Cream
• Torani Caramel Sauce
• Crushed Candy Cane or Cocoa

RECOMMENDED COFFEE:

We’ve suggested using Sacred Acre Navigator Espresso to serve your customers full flavoured fresh roasted coffee, straight from the roaster. This coffee will pair well with the natural brown sugar and caramel sweetness.

PREPARE:

Step 1: In your cup of choice, pour a 2 oz shot of espresso and mix with natural brown sugar and Torani Salted Caramel Syrup.
Step 2: Steam milk and add Kosher salt into cup
Step 3: Top with whipped cream and your choice of topping. We’ve suggested candy cane or cocoa, but feel free to try something different!

2.  HOLIDAY COLD BREW

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Toddy Cold Brew System
• Ice tray
• Coffee
• ½ cup eggnog

TOPPINGS:

• A pinch of cinnamon

RECOMMENDED COFFEE:

Try this with a couple different roast levels to find the one you like. We suggest a medium/dark roast like the three below, but if a more acidic light roast fits your consumer profile better, give that a shot!

Sacred Acre Passage Blend – Medium roast
A unique and complex blend with earthy nuaces and subtle hints of blackberry, raspberry, and chocolate.

reSIProcate Organic Sumatra – Medium/Dark roast
Mildly earthy aromas and hints of caramel enhance this chocolaty coffee.

Canterbury Signature Kodiak – Dark Roast
This dark roast is bold and spicy with deep and earthy notes of chocolate, clove, and brown sugar.

PREPARE:

Step 1: Follow Toddy instructions and steep cold brew until extraction of choice.
Step 2: Pour cold brew into an ice cube tray and freeze.
Step 3: Once frozen, place cold brew cubes in eggnog and serve with a pinch of cinnamon on top.

Gingerbread Latte

3.  CLASSIC GINGERBREAD LATTE

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• 2 oz shot of espresso
• ½ cup steamed milk
• 1 tbs molasses
• ½ tsp vanilla extract
• ½ tsp freshly ground ginger

TOPPINGS:

• A pinch of nutmeg (or cinnamon)

RECOMMENDED COFFEE:

Our two winners from this year’s Golden Bean Awards are the two all stars we recommend for this classic drink. The gingerbread latte is fairly common around the holidays, so picking a high-quality espresso will be the punch that sets this recipe apart from the rest.

The reSIProcate Ethiopian Yirgacheffe has won in back-to-back years, and the flavour profile will match well with the spice from the ginger. Typically brewed as a drop coffee, our Yirgacheffe has actually won in the organic espresso category.

Canterbury Signature Arianna Farms ‘Ono Kona’ – Medium roast
With a sweet aroma and clean, bright flavour, this delicious Hawaiian coffee contains hints of honey, chocolate and blackberry.

reSIProcate Ethiopian Yirgacheffe – Medium roast
Bright and vivacious! This coffee is aromatic with hints of citrus, nutmeg, and spice.

PREPARE:

Step 1: In your cup of choice, pour and mix a 2oz shot of espresso with molasses, vanilla extract and ground ginger.
Step 2: Pour in steamed milk.
Step 3: Sprinkle nutmeg (or cinnamon) as a garnish.
