Service Technician, Level 1

Richmond

The Service Technician is accountable for the timely, proficient and professional completion of service work as directed by the Service Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Disassemble equipment, clean or replace faulty or worn parts as directed
  • Test and adjust equipment to ensure equipment is functioning correctly
  • Consult manufacturers’ service and repair manuals to become familiar with equipment and equipment components
  • Assist senior service technicians with the installation of equipment
  • Perform in house and on location service calls
  • Daily completion of required paperwork
  • Keep service vehicle clean and neat inside and out
  • Maintain a supply of parts and material to adequately perform service calls and installations – replenish parts inventory as needed
  • Document in the prescribed manner all equipment movements to the customer’s location or back to the warehouse
  • Be a part of the on call rotation when assigned
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Service Manager

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent customer service skills; be courteous and professional at all times
  • Problem solving ability
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Good communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Must be well organized with the ability to work rapidly and under pressure
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Education

  • Grade 12, some specialized courses (electronics, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, etc.)
  • Willingness and ability to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and training sessions
  • Continuous learning

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions will vary – may work in the shop and out on the road on service calls
  • Specialized tools may not be supplied
