Blending

Blending coffee is similar to mixing various proportions of spices to achieve a great tasting, and often unique, dish. Although some coffees are great as a single-origin, still others benefit from being blended to bring out the best characteristics of the coffee.

Cupping blendsOur Roastmaster is skilled at blending to create a specifically desired flavour. Some of our signature blends include Canterbury Classic, Kodiak®, and Full City Organic.

There are two strategies for blending:

Blend before roasting (BBR)

Allows a specific formula of green beans from different origins to be used to make up the blend. The different beans are then all subject to the same degree of roasting.

Blend after roasting (BAR)

Incorporates beans from different roast levels into the finished blend. This can produce a very complex cup.
